Different Types of Back Pain

There are several causes of back pain, such as old age, poor posture, sitting or standing all the time while working a job. And back has three types which are caused due to different reasons to get detailed information about back pain, you must read the given topic.

Some people experience this type of pain due to having poor posture while working, or long-standing or sitting hours also responsible for this.

Acute Pain

This type of pain generally lasts a short time such as 3 to 6 months. It is related to damage of tissue which is caused by needle prick or paper cut. Certain other causes of acute pain-:

  • You may experience acute pain after touching a hot stove or iron. This is a type of fast and intense pain and after some time, you will surely experience acute pain.
  • You suffer from this type of pain during childbirth, which is additionally known as labor pain.
  • Smashing one’s finger with a hammer, pain is completely similar to touching a hot stove.
  • If pain persists, then you need to consult a doctor as soon as possible. If you leave this condition untreated, then it will surely lead to chronic conditions.

Chronic Pain

This type of pain lasts more than 6 months, and continues even after tissue healing. This type of pain is known as chronic benign pain or chronic non-cancer pain. Chronic pain because of cancer is a type of acute pain due to ongoing damage to tissue.

Causes of chronic back pain

Pain with an identifiable cause-: This type of pain is caused due to injury of certain body parts such as-:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spondylolisthesis

If you are suffering from this type of pain, you may need to undergo spine surgery to get rid of it.

Pain with no identifiable cause-: You may suffer from this type of pain even after tissue recovery. But there is no clear evidence found that can identify the reason behind the pain.

Neuropathic Pain

This type of pain is categorized in a chronic pain type, but it has different as compared to chronic musculoskeletal pain. You may suffer from stabbing, burning, severe, and sharp pain, some people also experience weakness, ongoing numbness, and tingling.

In this condition, you need to get medical help as soon as possible, so that you can get rid of this type of pain. But if you leave it untreated, then it will surely result in chronic condition and you may need to undergo surgical treatment to treat neuropathic pain.

Treatment options

Make sure you do not go with Opioids and NSAIDs because these do not give you real relief.

You must go with anticonvulsants or antidepressants because only these will help you to get rid of severe or neuropathic pain.
